The Day After The Xmas Dinner, Or Any Dinner, For People Trying To Lose Weight
Well, Christmas has come and gone. I got a completely new shorter belt among my presents to rejoice my thinning waist. But I challenged that a little bit with calorie consumption, and less than normal walking for the day yesterday.
Presents also included carton box of candy and a fifth of Scotch, both of which I'll have, but steadily and most significantly, with a precise recording of the calories on my daily journal. I firmly feel you can consume anything you wish, as long as your record the calories.
Joan, as usual, produced more food than even our crowd could have, so the refrigerator is full of remainders. Some landmines hidden in there together with some salad and fruit items which are on the more decent path.
Again the solution is to eat sensibly and keep count of calories. We allowed a bit of a blowout yesterday, and the hormonal response to the feast might have elevated our metabolism which could be an excellent thing, if we shut down the consumption today and stay on track at least until New Year's eve.
Now a week away is the next event, New Years Eve and day. This could very well be a repeat for many individuals. That makes the intervening week all the more essential to button down the hatches, and get back on plan.
It is also time to begin thinking about the new year. New Year's resolutions are well known for getting made and forgotten. That does not mean your resolution should be ignored as unlikely to succeed. It is yours to make, and yours to keep. And you could make it work.
Think strategically, about what step or steps you will take to keep your self on task. A daily walking routine, checking calories everyday in a journal, and attending every week support groups are excellent devices that have helped me. They may be right for you as well. However it is not for me to say.
It is your decision to choose and commit. Use this week to mull over this idea in the back of your mind. Consider how you can keep yourself on the right track in whatever you do decide to make a part of your new year.
I dropped 75 pounds this past yr. (plus or minus) Significant. Well over my how to lose 50 pounds goal. What really happened is that I became healthier. And that is a very good thing. I can't tell you how much better that makes me feel. It has as well set the stage for a new optimism that allows me to think about new horizons for the coming year in some other areas of my life.
I'm not over my battles with my waist, and my frequently failing will power. But I now have had enough successes and sufficient welcome compliments to desire prolonged good results. By sharing my progress with you, I really hope to keep my battle in the front of my mind, and inspire others. If you want to lose 50 pounds or more, realize it will be a battle.
This is simply not easy, but it is achievable. As I've said and will repeat frequently, the initial step is choosing to do it. For you who may read this, I hope you decide today to do so, and on New Year's day in your own way make it formal. Next year will be wonderful. Make your resolution to do things though that'll help in accomplishing your goal, instead of simply losing 50 pounds.
